Third Week

We are officially half-way done with Round 1!! Feels like it's been a long three weeks, however. Hopefully the next three will fly by.

Let's get the numbers in right now:

I lost 3.2 pounds this week and weigh in at 169 this morning. I am finally below the 170's!! Fifteen pounds gone!

Hubby lost 5 pounds this week and weighs in at 222. He has lost 27 pounds in three weeks. So proud of him!

Bit of slow start to the weight loss for me this week. In the first four days, I only lost 1 pound. I lost 2.2 pounds in the last three days of this week. I've been reading some posts from the Yahoo hCGDIET group. It appears that some people can't handle eating tomatoes and two fruits in one day, since tomatoes are basically a fruit that we use like a veggie. So starting on Wednesday, I stopped eating my second fruit. I also really tried to get at least a gallon of water/drinks into me. The weight started coming off faster then. Hmmmm....am I onto something?

I also read that drinking an ACV Cocktail will help with keeping weight loss steady. ACV is apple cidar vinegar. Two ounces of ACV in a glass of water sweetened with stevia is the cocktail. Not something I would typically drink, but I can get it down.

I'm going to keep up with this regimen to see if I can consistantly lose .6 to .8 pounds a day. If I slow down again, I will give up one of my breadsticks/melba toasts each day to see if that helps. After that, I really don't have much more to try and will just have be happy with my results.

Crab is permitted on this diet, so I thought we would try some. Canned crab, however, contains a bit of sugar. We are going to give it a shot anyway. I did buy some real king crab legs yesterday -- expensive! $10.99 a pound. Spent $25 on my batch. I thawed it out and then removed all meat. Weighed it - it came in at 19.5 ounces. How much is that a pound?? WOW. We heated it up in a pan with garlic, salt, pepper, and a couple of lemon rinds. It was good, but not great. Really needed butter. Ah well, we tried it and know we won't be doing that again. Hopefully, we can eat the canned version with sugar and not have it affect us negatively.

I'm hoping to be able to get down to 155 on this round. I think I can. Then I can start up my second round after my trip to Vegas in May. I would only need to lose 15 pounds to reach my goal and should be able to only do a three week round and be at my goal weight for our annual July 4th party at the lake house! Woot! Woot!

ah....life is good.

Thoughts....

Just wanted to get these down...

I have not cheated. Not even a little. I dreamed about cheating last night, though. Interesting...a big chocolate-y, caramel-y goey thing.

I think I just miss eating more food. I watched Ming Tsai on PBS - Simply Ming - yesterday. Big mistake....everything looked so nummy. No more food programs for a while.

Hubby played again last night. We did better spacing our drops. Saved a fruit serving from our dinner and ate that on the way home. Drank seltzer again. If nothing else, this diet is cheaper for us on gig nights! Don't spend money on drinks or munchies on the way home.

We were talking about what foods we miss.....funny what you miss the most. I walked into the bowling alley last night and was struck with an onion ring craving. I really miss my vanilla yogurt with blueberries. Quite the contrast, eh? Hubby misses Popeyes Spicy chicken with red beans and rice and burritos from Taco bell.

One other thing that is weird is our bathroom habits...not much going in, so not much going out. Used to being regular, now I'm down to 2-3 times a week. I'm not worried as I said, we're not eating much, so what can come out?

I'm pretty proud of our progress so far. But, it is only two-weeks in. I feel in control. Had to turn down a couple of dinner invites, but I keep telling ourselves that this is only temporary. Soon we can eat normally again. We timed our dieting so that we would be able to enjoy some upcoming trips: Chicago the weekend of April 9 and Las Vegas the weekend of May 7.

We should be done with our first round at the end of March, so we can start eating a low carb diet at that time. That is Phase 3 and lasts for 3 weeks. Then you start Phase 4 where you slowly introduce more carbs back into your diet over the next 3 weeks. This doesn't mean you can eat all the carbs you want, however. Carbs are what is making us all fat. Sugar. Sugar is the enemy. And it's EVERYWHERE.

Second Week

I have to say that this is pretty cool. Hunger is there off and on, but not ravenous gotta eat RIGHT NOW hunger. I acknowledge it and then it goes away.

My hubby is in a band and they played last Saturday night. Drank seltzer all night - didn't really miss drinking. But, we went a long time between meals, so we were a bit hungry on the way home. I brought along some turkey and cucumbers to snack on the way home. I think our drops were really messed up timing wise too, because we had to get all three rounds in before 5:00pm.

So here are our totals for week 2:
ME:
2/14 -.4
2/15 +.2 (yes, I was up - it can happen the experts say)

First week

This diet consists of 4 Phases. You start taking the hCG drops three times a day 1/2 hour before you eat through Phases 1 and 2.

Phase 1 starts out with gorging yourself for two days. Yes, gorging. You eat all you can of the fattiest, sugary, carby food you can find. Ya baby! I went out and bought alfredo sauce for the first time in my life. Had chicken wings with real blue cheese dressing for SuperBowl Sunday complete with cheesecake for dessert. Bacon and eggs for breakfast. yum yum...but at the end of the weekend I was just ready to stop eating. Really. I was so full and uncomfortable all weekend, I was anxious to start Phase 2.

I weighed in at 183.4 on Feb 6-our first "loading" day. I only gained .6 pounds over the weekend - really? So my actual starting weight is 184. Hubby came in at 249. I want to lose 44 pounds and see what life is like at 140. Hubby wants to get to 200.

Mon Feb 8 was the start of Phase 2 and our first 500 calorie day. 500 calories only? How can we handle that. But with the hCG drops, it wasn't too bad. I mean I was hungry off and on all day. But not to the point where I wanted to, as my grandmother often said, "eat the asshole out of a skunk". I put myself into the mindset that this is the last diet I will ever be on....I WILL NOT CHEAT.

Tue Feb 9 - I was down 1.6 pounds. hmmm....kewl Still kinda hungry inbetween "meals" - they are really more like snacks, but balanced and all fresh real natural food.

Wed Feb 10 - down 2.2. wowee! Hunger was good throughout day....wanted something at night however...kept repeating to myself....I will not cheat. I will not cheat.

Thur Feb 11 - down 1 pound. ;-) Night time hunger struck again....I will not cheat. And I did not cheat.

Fri Feb 12 - down 1.4. Today was the first day I didn't really have significant hunger pangs. Really...not much at all. I'm liking this!

Sat Feb 12 - down 1.8. yowsa!

I am down a total of 8 pounds in one week. Not hungry today either. Had to make myself eat the rest of my first meal. I was full. Yes, I was full. Unbelievable.

Hubby's progress is more remarkable, but he's a guy and you know....he's down 12 pounds in one week.

One week down.....?? to go. Supposed to stay on for 40 days or so. We'll see what happens. Right now I'm very motivated to continue on, to not cheat, and to see this through. But...it's only one week. I have a history of losing interest and caving into cravings. But I am feeling strong. I can do this. I will do this. This will be my last diet ever!

A bit of history

Like many women, I have had a weight problem for as long as I can remember. I was a chubby child, chubby adolescent. I thinned out a bit in high school - weighed in at 120 at 5'2". I thought I was still fat, but pictures from that time show me as healthy-looking.

I actually grew one more inch, give or take, after high school and now at 5'3". My weight is also at 183 right now. I immediately gained 20 pounds in college and stayed at 140 for a while - I weighed that at my first wedding...then I blossomed up to 163 - my former all-time high - in my mid-30's.

Enter marriage problems. I lost 33 pounds...got down to 130 and size 8. I looked hot, but my life sucked. Add "female" problems, hormones and a divorce....weight now at 155. I was happier, but not happy with my weight.

Met current husband, fell in love, got married. Stayed around 155.....was that at our wedding. Add my father's death, my father-in-law's death and life in general.....I ended up at 190 for my all-time high. 190! at 5'3"....oh my.

Over the years I've tried a number of diets: weight watchers, south beach, six week body makeover, food lovers fat loss, atkins, and a variety of my own. Just can't stay on them without cheating and giving into temptation and giving up.

Read Kevin Trudeau's book - the Weight Loss Cure. The Dr. Simeon's diet. Was VERY interested until I read you had to take daily injections from an alternative health professional. Ya...that was going to happen. So I put it in the back of my head and started on one of diets listed above again.

Then my husband heard a radio show that featured the Zola Diet. He called me and told me look it up on line. To my surprise, it was the Dr. Simeon's diet that Kevin Trudeau wrote about but WITHOUT shots!! Oral drops instead. OK...I'm officially psyched again. The Zola Diet was expensive though...about $700 a person, so I headed to eBay.

Found some homeopathic drops on eBay for $36 a bottle. Asked husband if he wanted to do this with me and he said YES. Ordered two bottles and started on February 6.
